What is the difference between a handkerchief and a pocket square?
Put simply, a handkerchief may be used in place of a tissue and is generally carried in one’s pocket (and out of sight) while a pocket square is considered a clothing accessory and is worn for show.
What distinguishes a pocket square as a ‘luxury’ accessory?
A few qualities distinguish a pocket square as being a true luxury accessory. Namely, the raw material that goes into making it, how and where the raw material is woven and dyed, how the edges (or hems) are sewn, and how the corners are sewn. What’s the difference between ‘Half Hand Rolled Hems’ and ‘Fully Hand Rolled Hems'?
Half Hand Rolled Hems are realized by hand rolling in conjunction with a sewing machine. Fully Hand Rolled Hems are made entirely by hand without the use of a sewing machine. Therefore, the artisanal craftsmanship and time required for these Fully Hand Rolled Hems accounts for their pricing difference. The Italian Mitered Corners on both varieties of pocket squares are stitched by hand.
The corners and edges of my pocket square aren’t perfectly symmetrical. Is this normal?
This is perfectly normal. We’re proud to offer a pocket square that is an authentic masterpiece. Because each pocket square is hand-stitched by an Italian artisan, every edge and corner is truly unique. How is the Virtus Cardinalis Handkerchief so soft?
Most handkerchiefs are woven. Ours are knitted. This reality in addition to the superior virtues of our USA grown Pima cotton provides a unique texture that makes our handkerchiefs the softest you’ll ever experience.
What size are your handkerchiefs and pocket squares?
Our handkerchiefs are approximately 12.5 inches x 13.5 inches (100% Made in USA). Our pocket squares are approximately 33 cm x 33 cm (SUPIMA® Cotton, Made in Italy).
To which states, districts, and countries does Virtus ship orders?
